How the program is organized

Book 1: The Teacher’s Guide encompasses three chapters.

Chapter 1 provides an overview of the program by describing the mission, the theoretical foundation, and the three principles that inform this literacy method. Chapter 1also presents the materials needed to teach the program.

Chapter 2 describes the foundational understandings for each lesson.

Chapter 3 presents the program’s lesson plans. It begins with the first lesson, building a community of learners by establishing the essential rules of communication, and is followed by sixteen detailed lesson plans, one for each of the Generative Words.

Book 2: Student Assessments provides different level exercises for each of the sixteen Generative Words. These serve as an optional method to assess students’ knowledge. Each assessment includes an answer key.

Book 3: Program Resources brings together all the materials needed to understand the foundation of the program and to implement it.

Book 4: Lesson Materials includes all the materials referenced in the lesson plans in the Teacher’s Guide. The book provides the links to the materials presented in electronic formats.
